Registering to Vote in Madison County, Illinois
Voter registration requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be 18 years of age by next election date
- Must be a resident in the precinct atleast 30 days prior to election day
When you can register:
- You can register to vote year round except during the 27-days prior to an election
- Registration reopens the second day following the election
Locations to register:
- City Clerk's office, Troy Municipal Building, 116 E. Market Street., Troy, IL 62294
- County Clerk's office, 157 North Main Street, Edwardsville, IL 62025
- Tri-Township Library, 209 S. Main Street, Troy, IL 62294
Registering by mail:
- You can register to vote by mailing in an application
- It must be postmarked before close of registration
Two forms of identification required when registering:
- One form of identification must show current address (driver's license, utility bill, etc.)
- If you register by mail, you must vote in person the first time you vote
Voter registrations do not expire unless:
- Change your name
- Move from one county/state to another
Officially registered:
- You are officially registered once you receive your voter ID card.
